LAST NIGHT MAROON 5 grooved, rocked, shook and surprised us with their Melbourne show as part of their Hands All Over world tour.

Even though Rod Laver was unexpectedly no way full, the band seemed to enjoy themselves. Adam dressed in a simple plain white t-shirt and jeans often joked with the audience.

The set list kicked off with their first single Misery from Hands All Over, then Adam excitingly said, “Good evening Melbourne!” As they leapt into Harder To Breathe, Adam stretched and touched his toes to say they/he were warming up.

Throughout the show he loved to let us know they’re “So happy to be back in Australia!” and it showed by their relaxed nature onstage. At one point Adam joked mocked the people with seats at the back by saying “Even though you’re small we still appreciate you.”

Adam’s sex appeal always glows and he knows it, which makes him even more sexier! He dedicated She Will Be Loved to all the ladies in the audience. But the real highlight for us ladies was when they did Secret from their debut album Songs About Jane. They added on Tina Turner’s 80’s hit What’s Love Has To Do With It? During this I’m sure I wasn’t the only woman who melted with Adam’s smooth voice and moves.

Not having an amazing falsetto, Adam is a confident guitarist who can tear out riffs and solos. Who would have thought Maroon 5 could produce a totally rocking School’s Out For Summer (Alice Cooper classic)?

The last two songs of the encore were the biggest songs of the night – Makes Me Wonder and Sunday Morning when the audience sang and screamed the loudest.

To finish the night Adam once again said, “Thank you so much Melbourne!”

The setlist from last night was:

Misery

If I Never See Your Face Again

Harder To Breathe

Give A Little More

The Sun /Billy Jean

Won’t Go Home Without You

Never Leave This Bed

Secret / What’s Love Got To Do With It

Let’s Stay Together (Al Green)

She’ll Be Loved

Wake Up Call

Shiver (with a very cool School’s Out For Summer riff)

Stutter

This Love

Encore:

Put Your Hands All Over Me

Makes Me Wonder

Sunday Morning

I'm an Australian author and music journalist from Melbourne. I've had articles and poetry published in several magazines and newspapers since finishing my Diploma in Professional Writing and Editing in 2001. In 2010 Gigs 'n Interviews was born. I launched it with my first big named interview and that was Vanessa Amorosi and then in 2012 I felt unbelievably privileged to interview Ronan Keating. I'm extremely proud of what Gigs 'n Interviews has become as it's seen as a platform for emerging artists and entertainers to be heard.

Looking forward to writing more children's books, I hope to change the wrong perception of children and adults with disabilities as I was born with Severe Cerebral Palsy (like Christy Brown who wrote My Left Foot). People can view my books at www.jacquijames.net
